WEA to lead on WLAs initiative

From January 2016 Workers' Educational Association (WEA) will start to take over the role of leading the WLAs initiative.  The WEA welcome this opportunity and you can read more about these plans here - http://www.wea.org.uk/wla.

East Midlands

Lincolnshire and Rutland Workplace Learning Advocates (WLA) is a network of colleagues who champion learning opportunities in non-unionised workplaces. It is peer led with management support in each participating workplace, led nationally by Workbase Training and The Johnston Partnership. Learning can be both formal and informal, during and after work, and subjects vary from beekeeping and maths to first aid and vocational qualifications.

For those based in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire the meeting will be at Longhurst, Boston on 29th October 2012 11am - 2pm

Course dates - North East

We are offering a FREE free 2 hour on-line course to train people to become Workplace Learning Advocates. The next course dates are 

  • Wednesday 15th August 10.00-12.00 – North East BIC, Sunderland 

  • Wednesday 15th August 1.30-3.30 – Durham Office Services, Belmont, Durham

Once you’ve done the course you’ll be able to:

  • Develop a learning culture within your workplace

  • Promote learning opportunities to colleagues

Today Workbase and The Johnston Partnership announce that their Workplace Learning Advocates scheme is set to extend its reach into non-unionised workplaces in the English regions. This follows successful work carried out in Lincolnshire, Rutland and
 the North West region.

A FREE Information and Advice course is offered for WLAs or anyone interested in becoming a WLA (Workplace Learning Advocate).
